Dear Valued Customers of Compass Mortgage,
At Compass Mortgage, our commitment is to be “Home to a Better Mortgage Experience”. Considering recent events with the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic, our motto will not change but the experience might look a little different going forward to accommodate health concerns for our clients, referral partners, and team members. We still believe it is our fiduciary responsibility and have confidence in our ability to serve our clients and partner with them as they make one of the biggest financial decisions in their lifetime.
If your loan is in process: Compass Mortgage is still working hard to complete the process of your loan! To be pro-active in our ever-changing environment while still creating a better mortgage experience for you, we have detailed our Appraisal and Closing procedure adjustments below.

Appraisals

All Compass Mortgage appraisers are educated on COVID-19 health protocols and will be equipped with gloves and masks to conduct appraisals in homes. Appraisals are crucial to part of the mortgage process and we will continue to schedule if necessary for your loan program in order to move your loan through the appropriate channels to get it approved. If we need to do an interior appraisal as well as exterior, we ask that you please exercise social distancing precautions when appraisers are arriving to your home.
During Appraisals, we are committed to:
  • Ensure the Appraiser and Property Entry Contact has no health issues or sickness within the property for the prior 14 days
  • Wear gloves during inspection (masks if available)
  • Limit contact with interior surfaces of the home
  • Limit time inside property to an absolute minimum to obtain needed information
  • Avoid close contact with individuals who may be present in home

No Contact Closing Options:

Hybrid E-closing:
As we continue to be shelter-in-place, it is our goal to conduct our closings efficiently to protect our clients safety as well as any other personnel involved. In order to speed up time at the actual closing, we will be sending you your documents for review ahead of time through an e-signing program. This way, you will only have a few documents that need to be wet-signed at closing to close on your refinance!

“Front Porch” Closing:
Compass Mortgage and our partnered title companies are ready to come to you! A Notary will be arriving at your home during your scheduled closing time, equipped with clean pens, gloves & masks, as well as your closing documents. If you are able, please specify to them ahead of time where outside of your home you wish to close and we can make it happen. Common places include front porches, garages, driveways, etc. If you are unable to close outside, a notary will drop the documents off at your front step, collect your ID’s to verify who’s signing the documents, and be available for explanations via video call from their car.

Clean Room Environment Closing:
Compass Mortgage and our partnered title companies have committed to create clean room environments for our customers in order to complete their closings outside of their home. These environments will consist of clean pens, gloves, and masks, along with video conferencing with a notary to finalize your closing. Room sterilization will be conducted after each closing.
During Closings, we are committed to:
  • Practice Social Distancing
  • Create clean Room Environments
  • Disinfect all Surfaces before and after each closing
  • Limit client and staff interactions
  • Sanitize pens after each use, encourage clients to bring their own pens, or discard pens between closings
  • Wash our hands frequently
  • Minimize closing personnel to only essential parties
